A grant has been issued for eight coastal Oregon communities to help enhance accessibility for travelers with disabilities. Even though the amount is insufficient to make major infrastructure changes, the goal is to take their resources into stock and provide those resources to the people in need. Additionally, the towns will partner with the company, “Wheel the World,” to support disabled travelers with locating services like accessible restaurants and events centers. Bettina Hannigan, president and CEO of the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce, said, “Sometimes it may not be the accessibility itself that needs to be improved, but the awareness of what different locations have.”
