Arisa Trew, a 13-year old teen from Australia, made history by being the first female to land a 720 trick at a skateboarding competition in Salt Lake City. According to The Guardian, onlookers cheered Trew on during the Tony Hawk Vert Alert event on Sunday, June 25, as she attempted, and landed, two full rotations. Trew's coach, Trevor Ward, believes hard work and resilience enabled her to get to this point, beating out 16-year-old Asahi Kaihara of Japan and 10-year-old Reese Nelson of Canada. Trew is currently ranked 14th in the world and her dream is to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
