On January 1, 2005, firefighters responded to an emergency call at a residence where pregnant mother, Lateshia Hall, knew she wasn't going to make it to the hospital in time. Three first responders arrived at Hall's home at 7:00 p.m., helping to deliver her son, O’Tavais “OT” Harris one minute later. Fast forward 18 years, when OT, now a young man interning at the Knoxville Fire Department in Tennessee, Face Timed his mother to let her know he was standing next to the very man that helped deliver him into the world! Kevin Faddis, assistant chief of the Knoxville Fire Department at the time, explained to Hall over the call that he was one of the firefighters who was there at the scene. As Washington Post shares, OT Harris recently graduated from high school and is attending East Tennessee State University to major in English. In addition, he is working as an intern with the Knoxville Fire Department this summer. The job has helped Harris earn newfound respect for the incredibly hardworking firefighters who serve their community. OT's mother is grateful for the chance to reconnect with the first responders and she is thrilled her son is interning with these everyday heroes.
