
With the building and construction industry responsible for almost 40% of global emissions, there is a growing interest in using mass timber in urban construction projects. Swedish real estate developer Atrium Ljungberg recently announced plans to build the “world’s largest urban construction project in wood" in Stockholm, Sweden. Despite concerns over fire safety and lack of data about the carbon footprint of building with mass timber, modern construction with engineered wood is gaining momentum across the globe. “I am convinced that we will see more such projects across the world,” says Annica Ånäs, CEO of Atrium Ljungberg.
