When invited by one of the protesters, Wisconsin Police Chief Andrew Smith spontaneously decided to join a #BlackLivesMatter march. At the end of the march, he is seen addressing a cheering crowd: "Thank-you for being here. I respect you for being here. I think it's the right thing that you're out here today." In an interview, he reflects on the importance of listening to what people have to say and said, "policing here is not something we do to a community, it's something we do with our community."
