CUP (Coffee Uniting People) in South Tampa is a unique coffee shop with a mission to employ people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Founded by Greg Jones, a lawyer inspired by the need for inclusivity, CUP aims to integrate special needs individuals into the workforce alongside neurotypical adults. Jones's journey began with a Challenger program for special needs children in Little League, driven by his desire to solve community problems. His vision for CUP was to create employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. Initially planned for his church, zoning issues led him to secure a prime location on South Dale Mabry Highway. CUP's mission expanded when Embarc Collective, a nonprofit supporting startups, offered them a downtown space. The supportive atmosphere at CUP lifts spirits, with customers deeply connected to its mission.
