An estimated 200,000 people were expected to attend three Taylor Swift shows in Vienna, Austria, that were cancelled following a terrorist threat. Many local attractions are providing free entry, food, drinks, or gifts for Swift’s ticket holders. But the Swifites also are creating their own DIY concert experience. Fans gathered in Vienna’s Stephansplatz square and Corneliusgasse Strasse, singing hits like “All Too Well” under a large sign that read “Bracelet Trading Spot.” This resilient spirit has become a trademark of the young, female fans whose safety is unfortunately not always promised. After three young girls were killed in Southport, England, while attending a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop, fans raised over £370,000 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where injured survivors are being treated.
