The Walk Club rules are simple - leave something behind; have open ears and an open mind; and bring an umbrella. Walk Club was launched in London, England, in the spring of 2024 by the founders of Self Space, a therapy company. Originally there was a charge for tickets but Self Space has since made them free. “Our work is as much a campaign against loneliness as it is about getting more people into therapy,” says co-founder Chance Marshall. “Much of therapy is creating meaningful moments of conversation — Walk Club has helped us open this up even further,” says fellow co-founder Jodie Cariss. It’s one of several such events addressing loneliness. The Walk and Talk Movement, which runs community walks every Saturday, has hosted over 10,000 participants during 500 events, since 2021.
