In early autumn, photographers descend on Pomfret, Vermont, to capture its autumn colours. But more than half of the cars driving through this town of 900 have out-of-state license plates and cause problems when they stop to take a picture of Sleepy Hollow Farm, one of "the most photographed places in the state". In 2022, law enforcement temporarily made the road past Sleepy Hollow one-way. In 2023, town officials closed roads leading to the farm to non-residents during the peak fall foliage season (23 September to 15 October), and plans similar road closures this foliage season.
