Marsha Hill has been visiting Toledo’s public library for years. Now, at 66, she is one of many people who are using its free services for entrepreneurs. She’s been coming in weekly -- sometimes twice a week -- for help scaling up her nonprofit, Families for Fitness. In 2018, the Toledo Lucas County Public Library was one of 12 libraries awarded grants by the Urban Libraries Council to engage entrepreneurs. This summer, the library opened its small business and nonprofit work space. Librarians hold drop in hours, take one on one appointments, and host classes on topics like bookkeeping, grant writing, and business plan development. The library now has three full time business specialists and has served more than 3,100 people this year.
