Allison Jedson received her doctorate in nursing practice at the University of Rhode Island in May, graduating the same semester as her three children, Alex, Emily and Ethan. It wasn’t the original plan. Alex and Ethan started in the fall of 2020 on a five-year plan so they could study in Spain for a year. Emily started in the fall of 2021 on a four-year track. Allison began her doctorate in the fall of 2021, but when her research was delayed, they asked her to wait so they would graduate together. Ethan graduated with bachelor’s degrees in finance, accounting, applied economics and Spanish; Alex with bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and Spanish; and Emily with bachelor’s degrees in kinesiology and dietetics.
