While many people have donated money, food and relief materials during the pandemic, some have been beyond generous. Here is a story of a woman, who is poor herself and who has given away Rs. 500 of her Rs. 600 monthly pension to food-supplying volunteers. Though the contribution might seem negligible, it is really big for the woman who earns a livelihood by working as a housemaid. 70-year-old Kamalamma had lost her job as house maid due to age factor during COVID lockdown. She received food packets daily during the lockdown and as soon as she received her pension, she went to the volunteers center and expressed her wish to donate the pension for their work. It is a small amount, but please accept, she said. It left all the volunteers feel truly humbled and grateful to witness the magnanimity of her heart.
