LaShenda Williams was in a tough place in life, homeless and living in her car in a Kroger parking lot after experiencing drug addiction, abuse and abandonment. She asked store employee and hiring manager Jackie Vandal about job opportunities and was told to come for the job fair the store was holding. After learning about Williams's situation, Vandal had her fill out a job application and hired her on the spot saying, Don't you worry about anything. I'm gonna work you to death, and we'll take care of you. Customers helped Williams find an apartment and rallied the community to help furnish it. Human kindness is alive and well in Nashville, Tenn.
