Burak Ozdemir is a renowned Turkish chef, a restaurateur, and a TikTok culinary celebrity. For the Muslim holiday of Muharram, he decided to treat his town to a special meal. Muharram is a sacred month for Muslims, and part of the observance is 10 days of abstaining from joyous events, the last day involving fasting. Chef Ozdemir's dessert treat was offered after the fasting period as a kindness to his community. The Chef chopped up pounds of ingredients, cooked up the dessert, packaged the treats to go and, with the help of volunteers, distributed it to the community.
