Derlin Newey, 89, has been spending 30 hours a week delivering pizzas because his social security payment does not cover his monthly bills. One of his regular customers, Carlos Valdez, began recording Newey’s pizza delivery visits and posting them on TikTok. Newey became a fan favorite among Valdez’s 53,000 followers, and the consensus was that Newey should not have to work that much. Together, Valdez and his fans raised over $12,000 to help Newey. Valdez got the honor of delivering the cash to Newey, who said, “How do I ever say thank you? I don’t know what to say, except thank you.”
