According to the EPA, fabric contributes to as much as "5 percent of all US landfill space and accounts for 10 percent of global carbon emissions." Recognizing the problem, Jessica Schreiber launched Fabscrap in 2016, picking up fabric scraps from New York City fashion houses. To date, this nonprofit has kept more than 600,000 pounds of fabrics out of landfills. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has impacted the fashion industry and this organization as well.
