In 2015, OlaRonke Akinmowo founded the Free Black Women's Library in Brooklyn, consisting of about 100 books written by black women, which has since grown to more than 1,000 books. The pop-up library has gained attention from the community over the past six years, and now Akinmowo hopes to find the books a permanent home. What started as a social justice project allowed Akinmowo to pursue her dream of building a community that amplifies black and queer voices.
