The West Bengal's Sunshine Schools project in India has provided more than 1,800 schools with solar energy systems, generating power for computers, kitchens and science labs. The project was put in place by the government to offer an environmentally friendly way to generate electricity. Not only does this project lower carbon emissions for the schools, it also lowers energy bills. The project plans eventually to provide 25,000 schools with solar energy.
