A ventilator gets the green light to proceed with testing in the UK, and it took less than two weeks. The timeline to develop new medical devices is usually years. Developed by a multidisciplinary team of engineers and medics called OxVent at the University of Oxford and Kings College London, the ventilator utilizes easy-to-obtain parts and 3D printing to meet the strict specifications for use with patients. Once approved, they will quickly move to manufacturing and deployment through Britain's National Health Service.
