In Ontario, a group of medical students is working to help students who are of low socioeconomic status apply to medical schools without having to pay exorbitant fees. They have collaborated with the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada to begin a project called Price of a Dream. Under the program, application fees, which can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $4,000, will be waived. "We're expecting hundreds of students to be able to benefit from this application fee waiver program," Dr. Oluwatobi Olaiya, a resident medical student who works with the group told the CBC.
