Solar energy is proving to be a great source of alternate income for farmers in the United States, who often bear the brunt of the climate change crisis. Many are experimenting with setting up ground mounted solar panels alongside their crops or developing utility scale solar projects on their land. Though energy companies may not be willing to pay much for leasing out their lands, farmers are excited about the prospect of a guaranteed source of income. Research studies have also found that just 1% of shared farmland for renewable energy could produce about 20% of country's electricity. Balancing food production with solar and wind development is the challenge of the future, but farmers aren't complaining.
