Marilyn Van Derbur won the Miss America pageant in 1958. Now at 84-years-old, she is selling her beloved crystal crown and bracelet at an auction for $20,000. All the proceeds will benefit teachers in Denver. “I’ve seen a ton of these crowns, and I just could not believe how beautiful hers was,” said Jay Pitts, a film producer and long-time volunteer for the pageant. “It was heavier than the others; very ornate and sturdy looking. It was a very unique and special crown." Once Van Derbur discovered the worth of the items, she wanted to sell them and give them to a good cause.
