A new program called Healthy Greens JC aims to bring fresh, organic leafy greens to New Jersey's Jersey City. The greens, planted in vertical farms, aim to help with the city's food scarcity in low-income communities that do not have access to fresh vegetables. All food is grown in indoor vertical farms without using soil, a much more sustainable model than traditional farming. The vertical farm company, AeroFarms, plans to build more farms to improve food accessibility in poorer places.
