Florida Department of Environmental Protection rejected a recent proposal to dig an exploratory oil well near the Everglades. The decision stated the well would be situated in Big Cypress watershed, posing a danger to a sensitive environment. Such actions would likely adversely effect the habitat for the Florida panther, which is already an endangered species.
