P. Nizamuddeen of Kannur, India has found a creative way to fill his days after he shut down his hotel in Bangalore and returned home. Cultivating vegetables and fruits was the first step. Realizing that this could not be his exclusive enjoyment was the second step. He does not remember when he took the third step but it is one which he has been committed to for the past ten years. Every day, he packs envelopes with seeds of indigenous varieties of vegetables and mails them to farmers who are in need of them. Keeping his life-style simple with few needs enables him to offer this service free of cost to those who truly need them. Nizamuddeen purchases the seeds from agricultural universities and is meticulous about recording their journey, following up with the farmers personally. "Each seed has a life inside it, and one should not destroy it. To waste a seed means destroying a life," he states passionately.
