More than 1 million people have fled Ukraine in just one week after the war began, making it the fastest human exodus of our century. Tel Aviv University, a university in Israel, wanted to stand in solidarity with its Ukrainian colleagues as the country becomes torn apart by warfare. The university offered dozens of scholarships that cover tuition and living expenses to affected students. The scholarship aid totals to around 1 million NIS (300,00 USD).“The steps we are taking are admittedly modest,” said TAU President Ariel Porat. “However, we hope that other academic institutions, both in Israel and worldwide, will follow our example, and lend a helping hand to the Ukrainian people in this dire situation.”
