When an eight-year old boy named Corona De Vries heard the news that Hanks and his wife had tested positive for the virus, he decided to write to them: I" heard on the news you and your wife had caught the coronavirus. Are you OK?" he wrote. The 8-year-old also opened up to the actor, sharing that, although he loves his name, kids at school had started calling him coronavirus, which made him sad and angry. Hanks wrote back, "Your letter made my wife and I feel so wonderful! ... You know, you are the only person I've ever known to have the name Corona, like the ring around the sun, a crown." The Oscar-winner then gifted his Corona typewriter to the boy. "P.S.," Hanks wrote, "You got a friend in ME!"
