As Tempe Preparatory Academy, a high school in Arizona, US, prepared to begin its baseball season in February, the program faced a problem that threatened its ability to compete. The Knights baseball team did not have enough players to field a team, facing the possibility of forfeiting the season. As a last-resort measure, Coach Brad Sullivan turned to an unlikely placehe convinced sisters Amy and Kailey Gonzalez to join the team with their brother David, who was already a team member. Amy and Kailey were both multi-sport athletes, but never played softball or baseball. The rest of the team welcomed the sisters with open arms and made them feel comfortable. Not only have the Knights been able to field a team, they are now competing for a playoff spot.
