On June 1, Vietnam announced the vaccine that provides pigs six months of immunity from African swine fever. African swine fever, which emerged in early 2019 and killed about 20% of the hogs in Vietnam, caused a big hit to the livestock industry. But with the high efficacy of this vaccine, farmers can rebuild their hog herds damaged by the virus. Vietnam aims to be the first country to commercially produce and export the vaccine.
