German startup Voltfang has begun repurposing EV batteries, which were previously a disaster to recycle. By repairing and storing batteries from EVs in decentralized facilities, the company provides a "second life" to the batteries. This reusing and repurposing of valuable materials in the batteries also alleviates damage that the production of EV batteries has on the environment. "In the future, we want to connect all decentralized batteries and make coal plants redundant," says co-founder David Oudsandji.
