Nearly a dozen neighborhood kids came together at a lemonade stand in Peoria, Illinois, raising more than $3,500 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The stand started over 10 years ago by Suzanne Miller, who was running in charity races for hospitals. Her kids wanted to help their mother by also running a lemonade stand. The first year, they had raised $220 and as the years rolled by, the lemonade simply got bigger and bigger. This year, Miller decided to hand it off to her neighbor Leslie Rothan and her three children. "Just to see them want to be better for themselves, but also do something as selfless as raising money for kids that need help. It's very humbling and heartwarming," says Rothan. For the ninth year in a row, Miller is participating in the St. Jude Memphis to Peoria Run, an annual 465-mile relay event that's raised over $17 million for the hospital to date.
