Venice canals look duck pond-like, now that the tourists and boats have disappeared. The clarity of the water has improved, and ducks have started nesting at the Piazzale Roma water taxi stop something not seen before! As a result, some Venetians are reflecting on whether the coronavirus lockdown is an opportunity to "see how we can be more organised in the future to find a balance between the city and tourism," as one hotel owner put it.
