After several blazes wiped out 72,000 hectares of forest in France this past summer, the country aims plants 1 billion trees by 2030. President Emmanuel Macron announced that departmental fire and rescue services will receive a €150 million yearly budget. In his speech, Macron thanked hundreds of firefighters, foresters, and other personnel who handled the massive forest fires over the summer, and he introduced a new forest strategy for 2030 that aims to reinforce departmental and airborne resources.
