Before his 30th birthday in February 2023, San Francisco native, Bryan Tsiliacos, aims to do 30 acts of kindness. One of them is to give animal shelter workers the 118 care boxes he individually prepared and packaged. After seeing the animal adoption rate surge during the pandemic and learning that animal shelter workers are five times more likely to develop PTSD due to emotional stress from treating mistreated animals, he was moved to prepare the care boxes filled with things like vitamins, healthy snacks, and bath products. Tsiliacos gifted these care boxes to the San Francisco SPCA and the SF Animal Care and Control, where more than 60 employees who take care of about 200 animals each day received the generosity. “Nothing like this has happened in the four years that I’ve been here so it is really nice to see,” said SFSPCA Animal Trainer, Riley Smith. So far on his journey to completing 30 acts of kindness, Tsiliacos has also given gourmet desserts to San Jose firefighters and school supplies to Oakland middle school teachers. “It’s so nice for them to realize that people in the community are really and truly thinking about them,” said Tsiliacos.
