Beavers were hunted to extinction in Britain 400 years ago. Now they are set to be reintroduced into an enclosure in Hampshire, England. A pair of beavers will be released on to Ewhurst Park estate, which is owned by the environmentalist, entrepreneur and model Mandy Lieu. She has worked with experts to prepare the land for the beavers and to build an enclosure that meets licensing requirements. Beavers have begun to reappear in Britain after the government licensed beaver releases within enclosures. In 2022, beavers were giving legal protection in England. They are now formally recognized as native wildlife and it is illegal to kill or harm them.
