Across Navajo Nation, younger generations have come to play a pivotal grassroots role in the pandemic response. As the virus has been sweeping the reservation that spans four states, young people have created online campaigns, like Protect the Sacred and #NavajoStrong to help provide accurate information, collect donations, deliver medical supplies and recruit medical professionals. On the ground, they've created the Northern Dine Covid-19 Relief Effort to get cleaning products, fresh food and supplies to households on the reservation. In the 10 weeks since they began, they've assisted more than 600 families. They have moved quickly for good reason. Navajo residents have been devastated by the virus, and hold the highest infection rate of anywhere in the U.S.
