Nonprofit organization Simply the Basics has launched the Hygiene Locator, a digital map and database connecting individuals in need with organizations that provide free essential hygiene supplies. From toothpaste and shampoo to menstrual products and dish soap, the Hygiene Locator ensures that people facing hygiene insecurity can easily access the products they require. The database includes various nonprofits and community organizations, such as churches and health departments, that offer hygiene programs. The Hygiene Locator not only helps individuals find the items they need but also assists in reducing waste by connecting potential donors with nearby hygiene distributors. By streamlining the process, the initiative removes the burdensome task of searching for specific hygiene services and ensures equitable access to essential supplies. Simply the Basics' Hygiene Bank Association, which sets quality control standards for product distribution, supports the listed organizations. Through a partnership with Method Products, Simply the Basics also operates a grant program that supports newly developed and growing hygiene banks across the country, with the aim of closing the hygiene gap. Hygiene health is public health, and Simply the Basics' work exemplifies the transformative power of caring individuals and organizations. Through their efforts, countless individuals have been afforded the opportunity to live better lives. As one recipient shared, "It feels good to know that there are people and organizations like Simply the Basics that care. If not for caring people, I and many others would not have the opportunity to live better lives." Together, we can create a world where hygiene is a fundamental right for all, promoting well-being, choice, and dignity for everyone.
