MacKenzie Scott, the billionaire philanthropist famous for her extraordinary generosity, continues her mission of making a difference. Known for her mega-donations, she is reported to have bequeathed a staggering $146 million in the first half of 2023 to 24 nonprofits, according to a Chronicle of Philanthropy tally! Each gift ranged from $1 million to $15 million, with a significant portion supporting initiatives in early-childhood education and early-childhood development. Scott's total donations, which are unrestricted, amount to $14.1 billion since 2020. And in an effort to shift the focus from her to the organizations she supports, she's stopped publicizing her gifts. Charity leaders support this move, with Sean McCarthy of the National Housing Trust stating, "It was in our best interest to announce this donation and to share the victory with our peers in the movement."
