Jessica Jordan has lived with granulomatosis with polyangiitis, a rare autoimmune disease, for over 12 years. Her doctors told her early on that she would eventually need a kidney transplant. Her 18 year old daughter, Brooke Lyle, decided to donate a kidney to her after her uncle (Jordan's twin brother who was planning to donate his own kidney) died unexpectedly of COVID-19 and her mom started dialysis. Brooke Lyle said she knew she wanted to give her mom a second lease on life. "She's healthy and I'm healthy and the doctors just tell me I got such an awesome kidney," Jordan said. Jordan and Lyle say their message to others is to "be a donor."
