A painting called ‘Stop The War’ by a nine-year-old Ukrainian boy is among 150 artworks being auctioned to help his country. Davyd Liashchenko’s painting, depicting a tank with a knot tied in the cannon and the word STOP written above it, is part of a Ukraine Art Fundraising Auction featuring paintings and sculptures by Ukrainian artists. Proceeds from the Sept.13 auction at London’s Ukrainian Cathedral go directly to the artists, their art communities and families. ”This sale will help keep art alive amid the chaos of war,” said auctioneer Charles Hanson. The auction was organized by the Charitable Foundation named after Voznytskyi and the Ukraine Global Art company. Despite being legally exempt from military service due to having four children care for, David’s father stayed to help volunteers assist defenders of the country.
