Picture this -- a simple app, widely accessible, stops hundreds of child marriages in rural India. This isn't fiction, it's happening right now! Activists use the messaging power of WhatsApp to bust illegal weddings with just a digital wedding card and a birth certificate. The goal? Allowing kids to, well, stay kids and continue their education. But the journey is not without hurdles. Child marriage, powerfully tied to poverty and the sugarcane industry in Maharashtra, poses enormous risks to the children involved, from early pregnancies to lack of proper education. Despite the odds, Ashok Tangde and Tatwasheel Kamble are on a mission to protect youngsters. "The penetration of WhatsApp has allowed us to circulate the necessary documents and mobilize people even at the last minute," says Kamble.
