Edison, 5, always wanted to run his own lemonade stand. After a recent family trip to Hawai’i, he set up Lemonade for Lahaina to raise money for people affected by the fires, with proceeds to go to the Maui Strong Fund. People donated large amounts for a cup of lemonade at the stand during its one day of operation, and online donations kept coming in afterwards. Edison’s parents’ companies matched the donations 4:1, bringing the total to more than $20,000. “We were just blown away by how much people gave and how willing and happy they were to give,” said Edison’s mother, Ami. “It reminded us that people want to be generous, and sometimes they just need the opportunity or the invitation to donate. We were just thankful to be a part of it.”
