Poland's most famous cat has found a new home, new name, and new slimmed-down figure and now is helping the local animal shelter raise funds to look after other cats. Gacek (which means long-eared bat in Polish) lived for years in a box on Kaszubska Street in Szczecin. A video of him, viewed over 5 million times, has attracted global media attention and tourists who overfed him. After the city's Animal Welfare Association took him in for treatment in April, he's now "George Clooney in cat version, yes that's the new me", says the shelter. Its campaign urges people to donate cans of cat food or contribute to a crowdfunding campaign called "Gacek buys food for the homeless". So far, donations have already exceeded the 7,000 zloty target initially set.
