Lawyer Alex Clavering -- Lolo, on TikTok-- asked his 800,000 followers to buy a winter coat for a New Yorker in need. He has listed 500 coats on a wish list, most priced at about $50 each, to be distributed through a project called Connie’s Closet. About ten hours after posting his original video, Lolo said people had bought more than 175 jackets, including so many of one jacket that they bought out all available sizes. He added a few other options, and gloves, but someone purchased all of the available gloves within an hour. Commenters suggested adding other items to the wish list, like long underwear, wool socks, and pocket warmers.
