Forestry England wellbeing trails have been launched at 18 forests across England, highlighting mindful activities to help visitors make the most of their walk. A free forest wellbeing journal can be downloaded. Here are eight ways to turn a woodland walk into a wellbeing immersion. Take your time; that helps increase positive emotions, while lowering blood pressure. Notice repeating patterns on ferns, leaves and tree bark. Thank a tree. Focus on what inspires you. Be playful. Whether walking on your own or in a group, use your time in the forest to reflect, gather your thoughts, and articulate them with friends and family. Seek out awe, and feel part of something huge. Look for mindful movement in the forest. Find peace in small joys.
