Twenty-two-year-old Sijo Zachariah, an Indian man living in Dubai, was working in his dream job as an aircraft maintenance engineer, or so he thought. He was home in India for a family wedding when the Covid-19 lockdown started, and he and his father grew concerned with how they would feed themselves during the lockdown. With grocery stores selling out, Zachariah and his father began collecting fruit and vegetable seeds. Using YouTube videos and techniques Zachariah's grandfather had passed down to his father as a guide, they began a garden that eventually helped feed 20 neighboring households. The time they've spent together has also helped bring Zachariah and his father closer. We started bonding, and I think that's why I got into gardening, said Zachariah, who is considering a career change from engineering to farming.
