In England, six-year-old Sid was digging in his West Midlands backyard with his Christmas fossil hunting set when he found an unusual horn-shaped rock that is probably an ancient coral. The next day, he found a block of sand with mollusks, seashells and a squid tentacle nearby. Fossil enthusiasts think the find may be up to 500 million years old, dating back to the Paleozoic era, when England was completely underwater. The family hopes Birmingham University's Museum of Geology will be interested in Sid's backyard discovery.
