Jamie Savage, CEO and founder of the recruitment company The Leadership Agency in Toronto, wanted to change the company work schedule for employees after noticing they were suffering from burn-out. Wanting to improve their well-being, she decided to switch from a full work week to a four-day work week schedule. Employees could use the extra time to relax, attend fitness classes, or go to therapy sessions. The result was apparent: employees were happier and more productive, and retention increased. "The truth is that it was instantly impactful on our business," Savage said. "The immediate impact was their wellbeing."
