Customers whose vintage Bentleys, Corvettes and Porsches were being repaired at Exoticars were fascinated by the Buddha that shared space with their cars as it was being restored. The Pittsburgh Buddhist Center turned to the auto restoration shop because their outdoor Buddha needed precision care. Workers stripped deteriorating paint and primer by hand, repaired cracks in the fiberglass, added a metal strip to strengthen the base and put on a new coat of white auto body paint.“There’s always something here that people follow the progress on,” says Exoticars co-owner Dave Ley, "and the Buddha was a big hit." The abbot, who visited for one Friday happy hour, is delighted with the refurbished statue, and the new relationships that have resulted.
