The Phoenix is a unique fitness gym. Based in Boston, the only membership fee is 48 hours of sobriety. The gym is designed to lift up those recovering from addiction. Scott Strode, founder of The Phoenix, says the reason for the gym's approachability is that "when somebody does find that courage, we want to scoop 'em up with love and get 'em into a Phoenix event right away." Each year the gym goes on a rock climbing trip in Moab, Utah, symbolizing the dedication to the climb of recovering. The Phoenix has touched many lives like Alex Jimenez, who struggled with drug and alcohol addiction since 15 years old. Spending more than a year in recovery, he is now a certified CrossFit trainer. And he is bright and smiling. "I think all of us are rising from the ashes of something," reflects Strode.
